Afterimage: Sylwia Kowalczyk
Studies in Photography is pleased to present Afterimage, a striking new solo exhibition by Edinburgh-based Polish artist Sylwia Kowalczyk. Curated by independent photography curator Alexander Moore. It is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland and forms part of the British Council’s UK/Poland Season 2025, aligning with the Edinburgh International Festival’s “The Truth We Seek” focus on Poland.

As part of the upcoming David Williams exhibition at 6WS opening on Saturday 3rd February, this event sees the artist in conversation with fellow photographer Kat Gollock to discuss the music that has influenced his work, specifically in relation to his recent Studies in Photography monograph, Dreaming Difference, publishing in 2023 as part of the Scottish Photographic Artists Series.
As well as discussing the influence of artists such as The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Talking Heads, there will be a rare chance to see David play and sing some of his own compositions.
Ticket price includes a glass of wine and £8 towards a copy of Dreaming Difference, purchased on the night.
Selected works from the book will be on show at 6 WS from Saturday Feb 3rd – Saturday 17th.
