Another Weeping Woman - Diana Sosnowska
13th July - 28th July

In her first major UK exhibition we are delighted to welcome photographer Diana Sosnowska to 6 William Street. Trained in Scotland but now based in the US, Diana creates staged self-portraits which draw inspiration from contemporary literature and cinema. Her practice lies between performative and stage-set photography, her often-voyeuristic lens inviting a reflection on the influence of visual culture on our perceptions of gender and selfhood. She investigates the social perception of women by portraying a recurring and idealized female character, within scenes whose settings echo a movie set. The use of lighting and costumes leaves space for gestures and reinforces a cinematic allusion throughout her photographic work.
We are also really pleased that Diana will join the group of artists that make up Studies Editions, which include the like of Susan Derges, Karen Knorr and Wendy McMurdo and many more. Our aim is to make images available at an affordable price for the public. All work is either open or limited, with appropriate certification with each print sold.
