Studies Editions is an online sale of contemporary photographic prints by leading photographers associated with the Studies in Photography journal together with prints from rediscovered historic negatives in the collections of Glasgow University and Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Studies Editions has selected 20 contemporary established and emerging photographers to work with in this first collection. Each photographer has made one image available for sale as an editioned archival pigment print.

We are also excited to have a set of 5 Hill and Adamson’s images available as a special edition, The Fishermen and Women of the Firth of Forth. The original negatives, made in the 1840s, are a beautiful example of the earliest documentary photography. The negatives have been digitised by expert Michael Gray and made into archival pigment prints. These prints are available to buy singly or as a box set, all accompanied by text written by Sara Stevenson, the world renowned Hill and Adamson scholar.

All contemporary print purchases will directly support the photographers at a time when opportunities to exhibit are few and far between. Studies in Photography is taking a small commission which is put straight back into the organisation, enabling further discourse on photography through the journal and organised lectures.
