David WIlliams - Studies Editions - Flow..., 2009
These fifteen images, made in 2009, are selected from the typology series flow..., depicting couples of all ages and backgrounds relaxing by the Kamo River which flows through Kyoto. The Hamo has been the location for couples spending time together in this way for many years. As well as providing commentary on contemporary Japanese culture, flow... alludes to an underlying unicity through the ever-changing, never-changing nature of the river and indeed the couples themselves. Not unlike David WIlliams' Japanese temples work, using repetition, one intention is to produce a form of 'visual mantra'.
Period prints, printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo 290gsm, using archival pigment inks, edition of 20.
