'In my work I improvise with objects to change my appearance and create unnatural or subtly distorted self-portraits. As a student, I began experimenting with alter-egos and this has informed much of my work since, in which I try to embody unusual characters and creatures that question the viewer’s expectations. My work features black-and-white photographs that sometimes are accompanied by videos to help bring these characters to life. 'Tree' is part of a larger series of self portraits inspired by animals and plants.'
