Strategy:Get Arts Exhibition & Discussion

To celebrate the launch of Strategy: Get Arts, 35 Artists Who Broke the Rules, edited by Christian Weikop and the first release in our new partnership with Edinburgh University Press, Studies in Photography are joining Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh international festival for a series of events.

The Strategy: Get Arts exhibition will take place in the ECA Cafe from 14th August. This free event is designed to accompany the book and reflect upon the influential exhibition of 1970.

On Monday 30th August, Christian Wiekop will be joined by Studies in Photography Chair Alexander Hamilton who was a Gallery Assistant during the Strategy: Get Arts exhibition in the Demarco Gallery for "Can Artists Still Break the Rules? Revisiting Strategy: Get Arts"

The discussion will be chaired by Fiona Bradley, Director of Edinburgh's Fruitmarket Gallery and will focus on the lasting effects of the exhibition and how much contemporary art has changed, particularly with a shift away from the dominance of male artists, and the new hegemony of commercial art galleries?

The event takes place both online and in person at the New York Times Theatre (ECA Sculpture Court) tickets can be purchased from the Edinburgh International Book Festival Website
