"Glen Feshie is a cultural landscape used by people over millennia, and therefore not truly ‘wild’, but it is nevertheless an exciting place to glimpse momentary views of the endless flux of the natural world, as here. This image, made in 1988, formed the starting point for our long-running, ongoing aerial series documenting the continuing changes in the gravel islets in the River Feshie, and also in the important Caledonian pinewood remnants on its banks – which have, in the last decade or so, come back to life due to changed deer management priorities, after long being in almost terminal decline.
This image is in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland, and a triptych formed of the same vertical aerial view in 1988, 1995, and 2016, showing recent evidence of natural regeneration of the woodland, is in the collection of the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh." Patricia Macdonald
